hi, my UPBv2 application recently invited me to update my UPBv2 software and firmware. which i did,

I am not sure if the 2 events are linked but i now have this warning/error message suggesting the environmental sensor is not working.
and to be honest I cannot see any evidence that it is working

I also have many red lines in the Log stating sensor is non-operational

has anyone else had this problem or seen this and if there is a definite way i can check if the sensor and UPBv2 are working correctly or are talking to each other.

I am not sure if there is a way of reversing this software update to check .

any thoughts would be appreciated

regards .. GSP

It is unrelated to the firmware update
Most probably the sensor cable is damaged. ( a wire is cut inside)

can these these sensors be dis assembled to check for a 'broken' wire, or are they sealed for life devices

to be honest this sensor has been hardly used and i am very conscious not to strain joints .

Yes you can remove the top lid and check if the 3 wires are in place.

The colour pinout is:
GND-Yellow
OUT-Green
VCC-Black

you are indeed correct, the green wire had broken free.
I unclipped the cover , removed the white RTV and re-soldered.
I took the tie wrap off ( to be honest this has no practical value in saving the joints )
once i validated my joints I entombed all the joints and rear cavity in liquid plastic.

thanks again for the pointer

Great. Thanks for the update
Indeed the wrap was terrible.
We discovered that after similar complains and when we checked this sensor batch from the factory that produces them.
New sensor batch have a better way to keep the cables securely in place.

Hi Evans,

can you tell which batches of sensors are suffering from this problem? Also the very first ones?
If yes, I would tackle the problem proactively and open the sensor housing and seal the cables. Not a big deal, but very annoying when it happens during the night.
Maybe a photo could also be some help :)

It was the first batch which was a small one.
The sensors are fine but if the cable is stressed it is prone to break.
