Sky temperature sweet spot

Post by astroisk »

Hi, does anyone have any idea what I could achieve as good sky temperature? I have the first clear night of the year and I'm reading 0.7 deg C ambient and -12.4 sky giving a difference of 13.2 deg C. Is that good, average, poor? I see other devices quoting 20 to 25 deg C below ambient as a good reading. I have the sensor mounted piggy back on the OTA, is that the best position, or is it better to mount pointed straight up to zenith? Thanks
