How to install a 90° bias ?

Hello
Sometimes I use a set up in which the optical axis is *across* a long losmandy dovetail.
This means I have also to bias the home position accordingly.
I did it in a mechanical way , simply by dismounting the clamp at the top of the mount then mount it back 90° across.
Would it be possible to do this in a soft way? For instance by rotating the DEC axis by 90° and then force the home position there. Any caution to exercise? (for instance with mounts limit?)
Clear skies!
