I'm new here, but have enjoyed using the UPBv2 for a while now. I recently added a eXternal Motor Controller for a second focuser on my dual imaging rig. I'm finding that when I connect my eXternal Motor Controller to the UPBv2, and toggle the power, that the UPB software shows that a short has occurred. I've verified this on another UPBv2. Has anyone had this issue?

This should not happen. What happens when you click the button again? Can you operate the XMC eventually?

Occasionally, I would have to hit the on button two times to get it back to normal, with the power being delivered to the external motor controller. Now, I'm seeing that it does return to that state after hitting the on button once. The amperage reported will hit 12.5A.

It seems to be a bug in UPBv2 firmware.
We'll have to check why it reports the port as a short-wire event and provide a fix in the next firmware release.

Hello,
It is advised to connect the eXternal Motor controller to the "always ON" port of the UPBv2
The warning has to do with the stepper motor that draws lots of current when first plugged to the UPBv2 and triggers the overcurrent
protection system. It is not a device defect and both device work perfectly fine.

A new UPBv2 firmware can make the over-curret protection meter less aggresive to these current spikes but
we do not have a date when this will be released. As this issue does not affect the operation of both devices
we have it under a low priority fix and will be included in a bugfix bundle.
